I am very excited to share with you the North Central Ballet 2012 Summer Workshop program! This year we are bringing in guest faculty from around the country to work with dancers in the disciplines of Ballet, Modern Dance, Musical Theatre and Classical Jazz.
The workshop is available to dancers ages 8 and up. The dates are July 2-27. Workshop times: 9:00AM to 1:00PM* Each week dancers will study classical ballet and one other discipline. (*depending on class level)
We will accept a TOTAL of 40 dancers for the entire program so as not to over-crowd our classes. It is very important to me that the dancers receive as much attention as possible.
Tuition will be based on number of students attending the entire program:
1-15 students: $250.00 per week
16-27 students: $225.00 per week
28-40 students: $200.00 per week
Tuition must be paid in full prior to first day of workshop.
Dancers may study on a week by week basis for $300.00 per week.
I am excited to give our dancers the opportunity to study with a fabulous guest faculty as well as our talented staff here at NCB.

March 24, 7:30 PM & March 25, 2:00 PM
Gaite Parisienne The setting is the Café Tortoni, in Paris during the Second Empire. Various members from all levels of society meet, including upper-class aristocrats, high society-ladies, as well as a lower-class flower girl, along with the professional can-can dancers. The glove seller becomes the attention for various rival suitors, including a baron and an officer. Another suitor is a Peruvian tourist with two carpetbags, full of jewelry, hoping to make his fortune in Paris. In due course, a quarrel between the customers ensues. After order is restored, the ballet culminates in a high-spirited can-can, the celebrated can-can from Orpheus in the Underworld. However, with the "Barcarolle" from Les contes d'Hoffmann as the featured music after the can-can, the café customers disperse and the café closes for the evening. The ballet ends as the Peruvian is left alone, ready to search for new adventures. The Firebird
Prince Ivan is hunting in the forest and encounters the legendary magic Firebird. The Prince is captivated by the Firebird's beauty and captures her. The firebird struggles to get free, but cannot escape Ivan's grip. The Prince takes pity on the Firebird and sets her free. In gratitude, the Firebird gives the Prince one of her feathers, telling him, all he need do, is wave the feather and she will come to his aid. As the Prince continues through the forest, he discovers thirteen beautiful dancing princesses. The thirteenth princess, Princess Tsarevna, is especially beautiful, and Prince Ivan falls instantly in love with her. They explain to Ivan that he is in the enchanted forest of the evil sorcerer, Katscheï, and they are all his prisoners. As Katscheï's spell calls them back to his castle, they beg Prince Ivan not to follow them, or to enter the castle, warning him that Katscheï's evil powers will turn him into stone. The Prince follows the princesses anyway, and as he enters the castle, he is immediately captured by Katscheï's servants. Katscheï appears and tries to turn the Prince into stone, but in the struggle, the Prince remembers what the Firebird told him and he waves her magic feather. The Firebird suddenly appears and casts a spell on Katscheï and his servants, forcing them to a dance to exhaustion. As Katscheï and his servants collapse from dancing, the Firebird lulls them all into a deep sleep. She then destroys them, freeing the prisoners of the castle and the enchanted forest. The Prince and Princess Tsarevna are married in a great celebration. Last Updated (Monday, 26 September 2011 21:46) I want to be a

A ballet about the transforming power of love, A Midsummer Night's Dream, is based on William Shakespeare's comedy about the romantic adventures and misadventures, quarrels and reunitings, of two pairs of mortal lovers and the king and queen of the fairies. The ballet, through its themes of reality versus illusion, change versus constancy, displays love in all its guises.
