About The Nutcracker

Audition is open to students ages 5 and up,

currently studying ballet at any studio.

In 1993, North Central Ballet Artistic Director, Les Jordan, had a vision to create a production of The Nutcracker that was accessible to dancers throughout the community no matter where or what form of dance they studied. It was important to him to share this timeless, holiday classic and to teach young dancers the history of ballet as well as imparting a deep respect for the artform. 30 years later, this tradition is alive and well! Each year, students from dance studios across the metroplex audition and are a part of this production. Dancers are placed according to their ability and always in roles in which they will learn, shine and grow.

Being a part of North Central Ballet’s Nutcracker gives young dancers the opportunity to perform alongside accomplished ballet dancers. These mentors motivate those aspiring to make a career of classical ballet, or become a patron in the future, understand the work and dedication necessary.

Being a part of a production of this size gives dancers of all ages new skills as well as a sense of pride, teamwork and self-confidence.

Auditions are open to all dancers in the community from ages 5 up. Dancers do not need to be a student at North Central Ballet. Come experience the magic of The Nutcracker.

Participation is Easy!

Each Dancer must audition for the ballet.
Each Dancer must sell a minimum of 1, ¼ page ad in the program ($135.00/ $142.00 online) Dentist, Dry Cleaner, Family Friends, Local Businesses, etc
Each dancer must sell 12 tickets at $35.00* each to the Friday and/or Saturday performances. Tickets MUST be purchased from www.nutcrackertickets.com ONLY. No other platforms, websites or venues are acceptable.
Tickets are Buy One/Get One ½ Price (2-1/2 price tickets = 1 full ticket sale toward the 12 required to sell)
There is a costume rental fee of $65.00 ($68.50 online) per costume per dancer
There is a $125.00 ($132.00 online) rehearsal fee per dancer

Advertisements and tickets are extremely easy to sell. It is our goal to make the cost of this production as minimal to parents as possible. *plus applicable taxes and fees

Rehearsals:

Rehearsals will be held at North Central Ballet, Keller.
Rehearsals will be held on Saturday mornings/afternoons depending on the part. We will not have Sunday rehearsals until very close to the performance date.
