RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Dancer agrees to adhere to the rules and regulations of the Company as outlined below:

  1. Appearance: I will maintain the appearance and weight required for a Company Dancer and I will maintain a moderate skin tone. If I allow myself to become either over or under the desired weight, I accept the fact that I may not be cast in a ballet or may be removed from a ballet in which I am cast. I will also attend all classes and rehearsals in the proper attire as outlined by the dress code.
  2. Attendance: I will be on time, and rested for all classes, workshops and rehearsals. I will apply myself diligently in the classes required and will obey the following rules for attendance.
  3. During the months of August through June, Dancers will be required to attend five ballet classes per week, and all scheduled rehearsals for the role/roles in which they are cast.
  4. In case of illness or other emergency, absences will be reported before class to the Artistic Director. Failure to do so may mean dismissal. A doctor’s excuse may be required for extended illness and injuries that prevent a member from dancing.
  5. There will be two excused absences per semester (semester one being August thru December and semester two being January thru June). Any other absences must be emergency or unavoidable situations only and must be pre- approved in writing by either the Artistic Director or Ballet Mistress. I also understand that absences will never be excused in the two- week period preceding a scheduled performance.

Behavior: All company members will conduct themselves in a respectable, courteous and tasteful manner befitting a North Central Ballet Company Member at all times and at all events. The utmost respect of all faculty, staff, teachers, choreographers, stagehands, crew and other dancers will be shown at all times in the studio and at all theaters, festivals, public performances and appearances.

  1. Casting: Casting is always at the discretion of the Artistic Director and is subject to change at any time. Dancers may be cast in different styles of ballets that will be a learning endeavor. Each challenge must be accepted and approached with enthusiasm, for the good of the Company.
  2. Understudies: Designated understudies are required to be at all rehearsals of the ballet for which you are understudying.
  3. Summer Workshops: All NCB Company dancers and apprentices are required to attend at least two weeks of the NCB Summer program in addition to any other approved summer programs.
  4. Conferences: Any conferences with the Artistic Director or Ballet Mistress regarding an issue must be scheduled during regular school hours and at least one parent of the dancer must attend. Phone calls and/or drop in requests will not be honored.
