The magic of The Nutcracker belongs to everyone.

Following the wonderful response to last year’s performance, North Central Ballet is proud to once again present a special sensory-friendly dress rehearsal of The Nutcracker for individuals and families who may enjoy live theater more comfortably in a relaxed and flexible environment.

Guests will experience North Central Ballet’s complete two-act production in full costume, scenery and theatrical lighting. Sound levels are softened, house lights remain gently lit, and audience members are welcome to move, speak quietly, change seats, step outside or take a break whenever needed.

There is no expectation to sit perfectly still or remain completely silent. Simply come and experience the beauty, tradition and magic of The Nutcracker in the way that works best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will we see the full ballet?
Yes. North Central Ballet presents the complete two-act production of The Nutcracker in costume, scenery and theatrical lighting. Because this performance is also our final dress rehearsal, an occasional brief pause may occur if a technical adjustment is necessary.

Is there reserved seating?
No. Seating is general admission so families may choose the area of the theater that feels most comfortable. Guests may also change seats during the performance if needed.

Can we leave the auditorium and come back?
Absolutely. Guests may step outside and return whenever needed. Our ushers will assist with quiet, low-stress movement in and out of the auditorium.

Does my child have to remain quiet or sit still?
No. Quiet vocalization and movement are welcome. This performance was specifically created so guests can experience live theater without the usual expectations of remaining completely silent or still.

Are assistive devices welcome?
Yes. Assistive and sensory-support devices are welcome.

Are food and drinks allowed?
Bottled water and small snacks are welcome when needed for medical or sensory reasons.
